Reverse Pre-Diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes with Nutrition
When you are faced with the news that your blood sugar is high it can trigger some "out of control" feelings.
Whether you have pre-diabetes, Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes, or gestational diabetes, I see it as my job to help you feel in control again. I start this process by having a conversation with you. I learn about your personality and what generally motivates you for change, and what you are mentally ready to change. I ask you how your body feels day-to-day and point out specific symptoms you may have that are linked to your eating style, and I point out how changing this style will you help feel better day in and day out. The idea here is to arm you the knowledge you need to "sell yourself" on a nutrition change. This conversation also helps you create a vision, so you can remind yourself of what you are trying to achieve in the future, as you make food choices each day.
Next, we create a nutrition plan together that includes foods you like, with the correct amounts of carbs, protein, fat, and calories. Unhealthy food restrictions are not part of the plan. There are rarely any "never" foods for people. I help you bring mindfulness to your food choices so that even if you occasionally choose something unhealthy, it is your choice and you are in control. I help you feel in tune with how your body feels after making this choice so can decide how often you want to make this choice again. We check in periodically by phone, portal or in person to see how the plan is going. The frequency of the check-in depends on where you are in the plan.
All this is tough to do in 10-15 minute visits, which is why I have a reasonably priced membership practice that allows me to spend the correct amount of time with you, setting you up for success!
